Is it common with Fibro to have smells that only you can smell? I can currently smell rotting eggs but as no ody else in the house can smell it and it's following me around I'm assuming either I smell like rotting eggs or it's a phantom smell. I can quite often smell cigarette smoke too.

Hi. I have been struggling with phantom smells for a while, specifically the smell of exhaust. Recently I have found that as soon as the smell starts a migraine soon follows. Anybody else struggling with this?

I know hyper sensitivity to light, sound, smells etc is common with Fibro but I randomly smell strong and usually pungent smells that then seem to disappear when I try to find where they're coming from. Does anyone else experience this? I feel like I'm going crazy and I get paranoid that my house, or worse, I, smell and I can't tell :/

I have lost my smell and most of my taste. Some meals I can taste and some not but what is very irritating is the phantom smells. I find this more when I’m not feeling well but it can come on anytime. Also at times I have trouble with my voice. I’ve gone to a ENT and he went down to my voice box and said everything looks good, even in my nose. So I wonder if all of this is from fibromyalgia.

Anyone either get a heightened sense of smell or phantom smells which aren't there.

Sometimes I can smell like a burning type of smell yet no one else can smell it or something smelly. Got this odd smell only in my room and can't seem to figure out what it is. I tried perfumes, sprays and flowers and it persists, even tried to find the smell, but can't seem to pin point it and no one else can even smell it.

I smell cigarette smoke when it isn't there. Dr called it "phantom smells". Anyone else have this?

I've been to several doctors but none of them seem to help. Recently I started smelling smoke/dirty ash tray smell. I don't know if this is a symptom of fibro or if something else is going on. Im wondering if seeing a Neurologist would be a waste of time and money?

I now have phantom smells. They come are sparatic through out the day and night.

I know every time I am going to have a flare up due to certain smells. Usually if I am going to have a flare that doesn't last very long I will start smelling cigarette smoke. No one in my family smokes not even friends. If it is going to be a flare from HELL I will smell gasoline before and during the flare. I have seen a neurologist but nothing was out of the ordinary. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this.

I know a lot of us struggle with chemicals such as perfumes etc but does anyone get smells occurring that nobody else can smell at all?

A recurring one for me is a mint/menthol smell, nobody else smells it but it stings my nose, eyes, throat etc

I have pretty much stripped the house and can’t find this smell and nobody else smells it. It’s almost as if it’s emitted from my body as it gets stronger when I get hot but still nobody smells it!
