Smells Nobody Else Can Smell
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I know a lot of us struggle with chemicals such as perfumes etc but does anyone get smells occurring that nobody else can smell at all?

A recurring one for me is a mint/menthol smell, nobody else smells it but it stings my nose, eyes, throat etc

I have pretty much stripped the house and can’t find this smell and nobody else smells it. It’s almost as if it’s emitted from my body as it gets stronger when I get hot but still nobody smells it!

Help 😢

Penelope, sorry about the burnt tongue syndrome, it doesn't go away. My tongue always hurts and my gums have sores on them all of the time. I use kid toothpaste, because it's the only one with a berry flavor. Can't gargle because they are mint flavored. I asked my doctor for some oral lidocaine and it really helps, just don't put to much on and only on the front part of your tongue and gums. I had to learn the hard way, luckily it wore off. Can't believe that everyone smells burnt smells, me too! It's so nice to have others having theses bazaar things, but of course it's sad that we have them in the first place.

Penelope
I also get the burning tongue syndrome. At times it gets so painful it makes it hard to eat or drink. Fibromyalgia has so many different symptoms, I don’t believe anyone except someone who has it understands it!

A few years ago I kept smelling a dirty ashtray, nobody smokes in our house. Nobody else could smell it, it drove me crazy. Thankfully it just disappeared, but now I have burning tongue syndrome. I’m hoping that will disappear too. Don’t you love all the symptoms that come with this horrible condition 🙁

Oh my goodness yes Zelda @A MyFibroTeam Member The burning wires or burnt electrical smell is terrible. I have searched and searched for the source of that particular smell before.
