Members overwhelmingly confirmed that Lyrica caused significant weight gain, with many reporting gains ranging from 10 to 50 pounds within weeks to months, often accompanied by dangerous water retention and edema that affected mobility, breathing, and even risked congestive heart failure. Several members shared practical strategies for managing the side effects, including reducing dosage, adding Lasix for water retention, switching to alternative medications like Cymbalta or Savella, and exploring metabolic weight loss programs with nutritional counseling and physical therapy. A recurring theme was the difficult personal decision each member faces between managing pain effectively and dealing with weight gain that can worsen existing joint problems, with many emphasizing the importance of advocating for yourself with doctors and considering whether the benefits outweigh the costs.

It's a decision we have to make...need to sit et think about the pros et cons...is wt gain more upsetting to you or is being in pain more daily a concern. It's a personal decision for each of us. Some may gain just a little wt, none, or a lot,. The wt may not bother some et some it may d/t can cause you more pain depending on how much you may put on. But in the end you need to do what's best for you et will make you happy:)

I've been on lyrica for a year or so and I've gained 30 lbs. The thing is, it doesn't even work. My dr. just upped my dose. I just know I'll gain more.
