Members shared widely varied experiences with Cymbalta and Lyrica for fibromyalgia pain, with some finding significant relief from Cymbalta (often paired with Gabapentin) while others reported troubling side effects like weight gain, sexual dysfunction, mood changes, and severe withdrawal symptoms from stopping cold turkey. Several members emphasized the importance of finding the right dosage through careful trial and error, communicating openly with doctors about side effects, and never stopping medications abruptly without medical guidance. A recurring theme was that fibromyalgia treatment is highly individual, with what works wonderfully for one person causing intolerable problems for another, making patient advocacy and persistence essential in finding the right combination.

It is called Cymbalta. Since being on it I've noticed my pain isn't as bad. Sometimes I wonder if it is worth it due to the side effects.

Cymbalta helps me a lot. Lyrical did nothing for me but I use Gabapentin/Neurontin.

I was on the highest dose of Lyrica did nothing for me. I feel with fibro everyone is different and experience different things so it may work for you, just trail and error.

Cymbalta or another newer med similar to it is MANDATORY!! Lyrica has a different function. There are dif types. In choosing pain Dr, I advise against those whose 1st training is in anesthesia. They love doing implantable things but they don't talk to people well. They are used to dealing with those who are asleep. They know theory & biochem. Just not how awake people want to function. A good FP, Internist or psych who really LIKES people and smiles are good. Ask about what associations they belong to. The AIPM is a good one. They work to get people out of pain by many means. Mtg coming up mid-Oct.
