My hands tend to wrinkle fast in the water, especially hot water or when the weather is hot and I sweat. They wrinkle in about 2/5 minutes, it is not severe. I am afraid because I read that this is related to cystic fibrosis and now I think I have it. I also have other symptoms like post nasal drip and mucus stuck on my throat.

Does anybody has symptoms like this?

Members responded to concerns about wrinkling hands and possible cystic fibrosis by sharing that many experience similar symptoms like post-nasal drip, runny noses, and cold hands, reassuring the original poster they are not alone in these worries. Several members offered practical guidance, including advocating for blood tests for cystic fibrosis and scleroderma despite doctor hesitation, seeing an autoimmune specialist, trying allergy nasal sprays for post-nasal drip, wearing gloves to protect hands from water, and watching a TLC episode about a rare skin condition that mimics cystic fibrosis symptoms. A recurring theme was empowerment through self-advocacy and testing to find answers, balanced with reassurance not to panic before getting a proper diagnosis and remembering that most conditions are manageable once identified.

Hi Ana. Do you get the show I believe is on TLC called save my skin. It’s a derm dr in London and she had a patient with the same thing and thought she had cystic fibrosis and she didn’t but has a very rare condition that does what you say and she helped her. Hope you can find the show and episode.

who knows, I think you need to c a Spec in Auto- immune disorders. There are a number of things you could have-even just plain dermatitis.
( Post nasal drip is not an auto-immune symptom that I know of - just allergy usually, there is a v good nasal spray for Allergies, ask Pharmacy.)
None of them fatal ! so don't worry until you are told what it is, from when isolation is done. Even then don't worry- just get as much info as possible & do all you can to alleviate symptoms - until then keep water on hands to minimum.
I wear gloves for everything except showering. Water, detergent, destroy my nails, first time in my life. I used to have beautiful strong nails before menopause. I take Silicon & Calcium.- waiting for the 6week mark to come.

About Covid 19, I have decided to keep isolating, ( because we have such low immunity,) until the 3wks after the last new case - just to be sure........can't see where you live ?
What happens if your hands get really cold any blue /whiteness discolouration & pain to skin/ flesh? Not so much nails but skin.....
All the best.

Ana, your Dr. Is wrong. I just had the blood test alongside many other tests. Have you had any respiratory problems in the past? I had pneumonia and bronchitis in the past. I also had changes to my liver and pancreas. I don't drink so I guess that's why he ordered the blood work.

Ana, it looks like we all have post nasal drip and mucus. There is a blood test to find out if you have cystic fibrosis. I found out a couple of weeks ago, that I carry the gene, and I do have some symptoms. Added you to my team.
