While at my Pain Specialist, the PA suggested getting steroid shots to ease my pain spasms. I told her I will consider it next time. Well now I have this pain on my left neck and shoulders that has been there for 5 days now. It only eases when I take Vocodin but then it comes back. Im just not sure what the side effects of the shots might be.

I had many prior to Fibro - and had some luck (6 month relief usually max). After Fibro really kicked in the last 10 or so shots or nerve blocks have just been me spending $ with no result.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences. While I wanted to try the shot, I had an insurance hiccup that prevented me from coming to my appt. After multiple takes of Vicodin and all the other meds I have for Fibro, I think the pain has finally eased. The reason for my curiousity on the shot is that I get these muscle spasm pains in random body parts that is much different from my usual Fibro pains. This kind of very sharp pain is just in one location. For instance last year I thought I broke my right leg for no reason. Then there was the time I couldn’t sleep for weeks bec it felt like my neck is broken (but not) and I had to wear neck brace to sleep. Then there was an ER episode bec there was this sharp pain in my buttocks area. My doctor said its all muscle spasms which is part of my Fibro 😔

I was offered injections but the physio told me they wouldn't make any difference long term to me so would be short term and could only have 3 on the NHS so pointless really. He said it would make things worse in the long run.

I also have had steroid neck injections, horrible headache for days. Trigger point injections have helped me.

The only time steroid shots helped was when my neck seized up and I couldn't move. It was a targeted treatment to get movement back in my neck and did not make any difference to my stiffness and whole body pain.
