Members shared mixed experiences when asked about taking Lyrica while managing severe depression, with the strong consensus being to consult a doctor or pharmacist before starting, especially if already on antidepressants. Several members described successfully combining Lyrica with depression medications like Cymbalta or sertraline, while others warned of serious side effects including weight gain, extreme fatigue, worsening depression, and liver concerns, with one member planning to stop Lyrica entirely after noticing these effects. A recurring theme was the importance of close monitoring with healthcare providers, adjusting doses carefully, considering alternatives like Vitamin D supplementation, and trusting personal experience over assumptions when it comes to combining these medications.

It is probably OK for you to use lyrica even though you suffer depression, especially if you are using medication to control the depression. Just check with your doctor and if you feel your depression gets worse when you start taking lyrica he may need to ajust the dose of antidepressant or change it for another ect. I also have depression and use medication for this as well as pain relief medications. I have been taking lyrica and anti depressants in the past ,had no problems with combining the two ,but unfortunately lyrica didn't touch my pain at allall, hence not using it now.

I would talk to your doctor or better yet a pharmacist about this issue. They could give you information you can trust. Most times the doctor knows what the sales person told them where a pharmacist studies about medicines and could give you better information.

Apparently it's a cost and black market issue that's what i was told by nhs pain management!! It works for me just take it up and down in small quantities as it can make you nauseous x

Have you tried increasing your Vit D intake? I take 5000IU twice a day, I suggest you try it.

I have a tendency toward depression. I've been on Lyrica 150 twice a day for six months. I can't tell that it has helped my fibro at all. The doctor wants to increase my dosage to 225 twice a day. I've had two days of taking 80 mg once a day and have felt overwhelmingly tired, listless, and with increasing depression. It seems too coincidental to me with the increase in Lyrica. I'm thinking of asking my doc to take me off of Lyrica totally now.
