Yes, absolutely — fibromyalgia is so much more than widespread pain. Many people describe feeling like they have a constant flu that never goes away. You are definitely not alone in this.
Beyond the aching, fibromyalgia can bring a whole range of exhausting symptoms, including:
- Extreme fatigue that makes even small tasks feel impossible
- Brain fog and difficulty concentrating
- Morning stiffness
- Sleep problems
- Numbness and tingling in arms, legs, and feet
- Sensitivity to temperature (like sweating in cold weather)
- Dizziness and stomach issues
- Sensory overload One MyFibroTeam member described it perfectly — feeling like they were "smiling when the pain is beyond 10" while also dealing with sweating in freezing temperatures and running on little to no sleep.
It can feel invisible to others, but the symptoms are very real and can be completely overwhelming. Tracking symptoms and sharing them with a doctor can help in finding ways to manage the full picture, not just the pain.

I get flu like symptoms on major flares bad enough that I was bed ridden for almost all of January and Feb. Been like this for over 20yrs . Just diagnosed last yr at this point I'm not sure if it's me/ cfs or fibro. Or both .major knee pain for a couple days then minor and gone only to come back in a few days or weeks. Migraines so bad head feels like it's in a vise..
Neck feels like there's a car parked on it or a tractor trailer depending on the day. The flu like and dizziness someday s is worse than the above
