I just found out from my AMAZING NEW RHEUMATOLOGIST that I am severely deficient in Vitamin D, in which she had to write me a prescription because it was so bad, and my Vitamin B was nearly as bad!!! You would not believe all the problems it can cause you nervous system and mental health!!! If your doctor has not done so lately, I would have them checked! I don’t think it is often indicated on just a regular CBC.

How do triggers set off fibromyalgia symptoms?

Triggers can activate or worsen fibromyalgia symptoms through several pathways. The condition affects how your brain and spinal cord process signals, including pain and other sensations. When triggers occur, they can amplify this already heightened sensitivity.

Common triggers include:

- Physical trauma: Automobile crashes and surgery can trigger initial symptoms or flare-ups
- Emotional trauma: Divorce, abusive relationships, or death of a loved one may bring on first symptoms
- Infections: Some viruses like hepatitis C, Lyme disease, and HIV may cause genetic changes leading to fibromyalgia
- Sleep disturbances: Poor sleep can trigger pain and fatigue symptoms
- Stress: Both physical and emotional stress can worsen symptoms

The widespread pain from fibromyalgia uses part of your brain's capacity, reducing its ability to function optimally. This is why triggers that add additional stress—whether physical, emotional, or environmental—can push symptoms over the edge.

Central sensitization plays a key role. Your central nervous system becomes overactive and reacts too strongly to signals that wouldn't normally cause problems. When a trigger occurs, this amplified response can lead to increased pain, fatigue, brain fog, and other symptoms.

Have to ask for vitamin D test if Dr. doesn’t add to test list.
