Cyclobenzaprine has been around for years in pill form. It's a muscle relaxer. It is covered by part d of Medicare.

Tonmya was just approved by the FDA in August 2023 as the first new fibromyalgia medication in over 16 years. It's a new formulation of cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride that dissolves under the tongue (sublingual tablet), which helps it work faster and maintain effectiveness while minimizing side effects.

Since this is such a new medication, it's understandable that many pharmacies don't yet have it in stock. It may take some time for distribution networks to make it widely available across pharmacies. While waiting for Tonmya to become available, it's worth discussing with your healthcare provider about other currently available treatment options. There are several FDA-approved medications for fibromyalgia including pregabalin (Lyrica), duloxetine (Cymbalta), and milnacipran (Savella) that might help manage symptoms in the meantime.
