Recently I read about someone who took collagen. This was a man who was a runner he said he had to stop running and now since he's been taking collagen he can run again. He said it felt like cartilage had been put back into his knees.

Yes, collagen helps the hair, skin, nails., connective tissues, tendons ligaments and bones. There are different types. You'd have to read about each type to see which one you want to take or if you want to take all of them in supplemental form but I have found a powder is better than taking a capsule . There is collagen from bovine, chicken bone, chicken egg shells and fish. Unfortunately human beings have relied on animals for centuries for this type of support. I'm an animal lover and don't want to eat animals but I have found that I can't get this support without collagen from animals. I grew up in the 1950s and '60s and my father told me to eat the bone marrow . Somehow people knew , even if they didn't explain why . Anyway, the supermarkets used to actually sell real beef gelatin without all the added sugar or artificial sugars and food colorings Etc. Anyway, I can't find it in the supermarkets but you can buy it online.

I've read that it can take 6 months for collagen to work.

I remember that too, Arlene. It did the same thing as the expensive collagen now.

I do remember years ago there was a Knox gelatin. I think it was in a box as a powder that you added water to make unflavored gelatin. It was from beef.
