Lia, it seems that for some people, an antihistamine taken during that pre-menstrual time can help a lot. There are the H1 types of antihistamines such as Zyrtec, Claritin, etc. Then there are the H2 types of antihistamines such as Pepcid-AC, generic name: Famotidine. For some people, the Pepcid AC helps more than the H1 types.
This is purely anecdotal, I don't have sources, and I'm not a MD or RD.
As with any over the counter medication or supplement, it's important to check in with your MD and pharmacy about possible contraindications with health issues and current prescriptions.
