Has anyone found physio makes their pain worse? I saw the physio two weeks ago and am in agony from his exercises.

Members overwhelmingly shared that physiotherapy and aquatherapy made their fibromyalgia pain worse rather than better, with many describing increased agony in their backs, legs, and other areas after treatment sessions. Several members explained that most therapists push limits until pain starts, which can trigger fibromyalgia flares, and emphasized the importance of finding a therapist specifically experienced with fibromyalgia who understands pacing and won't label patients as non-compliant during flares. A recurring theme was that while some members found relief through specialized approaches like laser therapy or avoided certain treatments altogether, many continue doing activities despite knowing they will cause pain, highlighting the challenging balance between staying active and managing symptoms.

Chronic fatique syndrome and fibromyalgia have almost identical symptoms.
75% of fibromyalgia patients have both.
They both involve exercise intolerance, but a defining symptom of ME/CFS is post-exertional malaise (PEM).

Yes,I had physio when I was first diagnosed and it made the pain worse,so the doctor send me to aquatherapy and that was even worse. I was ok in the warm water but when I came out of the water I couldn't even dry and dress myself for the pain.

My laser therapy treatments are through my physiotherapist. Some of my tight muscles have been lasered and I have had relief. I have it for edema in my feet and ankles. The physiotherapist doesn't touch me during laser therapy treatments. I just feel warmth.
