I do better with low sugar. Eating a few nuts gives me energy and helps me feel full. I also like ginger snaps which are low in sugar…
I think I've been "addicted" to sugar and simple carbs nearly my whole life. The last several years I've tried to really watch the sugar and carbs. The only way I've been able to control the cravings is a combo keto/Mediterranean diet. (More veggies 👍) As soon as I eat bread, sugar pasta, I'm out of control and my PAIN is too. For me, there's a direct correlation 🥴
And we're getting into a tough time of year... weather and holiday wise. Good question Evelyn!!!!
Well, I have been on and off keto since 2018 and I know for a fact that I feel better off sugar and carbs. We bake our own bread products. Pizza, muffins, biscuits and I found a very plain muffin dough that I bake in rectangular muffin pan for tiny bread. In August my brother in law passed and we had to drive down to Texas to say goodbye before he died. It was an emergency "get here now" trip, so no advance planning time which resulted in fast food all the way. Then of course stress and sadness fueled the "aww, @#$@ it" attitude and we drank cokes and even ate fries. Then the week down there we ate more fast food because of him going in and out of hospital, etc. Not only did I gain 8 lbs. But my body ached from head to toe. I was shocked at how horrible I felt. It took me 3 weeks to get back to feeling like normal inspite of going back on keto as soon as I returned home. My energy was gone. My head and entire body hurt. I actually thought I had caught the flu for awhile. Getting off sugar is hard, but you can make your own treats using Stevia or monk fruit. Chocolate fudge or candy is super easy. My favorite chocolate has instant coffee and cinnamon added in. I don't feel deprived of anything. I just have to plan in advance to make sure I have food prepared. I know what you're going to say. Who has the energy to do that? Well, if you give up the sugar, you'll find you have more energy. I've been fighting migraine and fibromyalgia plus a host of other illnesses since 1970s and this is the one thing that totally improved my life. It's worth the effort. Even if you don't go keto all the way, try replacing regular sugar with the store products with less sugar. Drop soft drinks completely and drink tea or water. I love cold coffee too. Don't bring sugary treats into your home at all. Y'all know the tricks...just do them. It really will make you feel better. I promise.
I feel better when I stay away from surger.
