Went on a long car trip and despite spending the night along the way, which helped, I arrived home 2 days ago totally exhausted, still exhausted today plus major flare...traveling is no fun anymore.. can anyone relate to this?

Members overwhelmingly related to the exhaustion and physical toll of traveling with fibromyalgia, with many sharing that even short trips of 15 to 45 minutes can trigger flares, pain, and days of recovery time. Several members described practical challenges including motion sickness requiring Gravol, the need for wheelchairs or walkers, and one member who bought a new car specifically for comfort, while others have largely abandoned travel altogether or switched to telehealth visits to avoid the ordeal. A recurring theme was the grief of losing the ability to enjoy road trips and outings that once brought joy, coupled with the understanding that rest and self-care must now take priority over pushing through.

even flying to and from is a chore. I dread traveling. My daughter lives in Austin and even an hr plane ride is too much sometimes.

I’m the same plus motion sickness. Gravol helps because I can sleep but it makes me terrible company for my poor hubby🥴

This is many of us. Before covid I would go up once a year to Northern Maine to help my mom out from 4 to 6 weeks. It is a 27-hour trip one way. We do stop. But I can't even blame it on the time and distance. Short journeys do the same for me

Didn’t go anywhere last year but I hope this year will be good. I have a feeling though that it won’t until I get new knees. I used to just stay in the hotel and watch the dog while hubby took pictures of birds. But now everything hurts.I wonder.
