Hey all,

I've tried searching but I'm hoping my google-foo is just not up to snuff.

I have not been able to work since March and the financial strain is VERY real. Does anyone know of any financial assistance that I can apply for? My husband works so we are not eligible for welfare but some assistance would be helpful so we can continue to pay our bills and buy groceries.

Any suggestions welcome.

Thank you!

I live in Ontario and get CPP Disability. It’s hard to get approved and they usually turn everyone down the first time you apply! Don’t get discouraged and when I appealed their decision, I just sat down and wrote a letter telling them how shitty my life was with fibro and depression and I got approved. The whole thing takes about a year unfortunately but they will backpay you I think with it! Also, if your province has the Disability Tax Credit, apply for it as well! Again, it is hard to get approved and you will have no taxable income so your spouse can use it. It really helps at tax time!! There are companies out there that will help you get approved for CPP cause they know all the ins and outs, you pay them a percentage but it was worth it to me! Oh yes and if you have children under 18, CPP Disability will give them a small amount too per month!! Good luck with everything, I know the financial strain with fibro is horrible!
