Looking for doctor who believes that fibro actually exists. The ones I've seen so far..."I don't believe in it". "Fibromyalgia. Is that a name of a medication you're on?" "Ha ha silly woman there's no kind of test for fibro!" The latest "oh you don't need to go to a specialist. I can give you anti depressants that should fix everything." The doctor I had fill in a medical report for me screamed at me till I left his office in tears. It was for disability. Needless to say I didn't qualify. So… read more

Members rallied around someone struggling to find a Saskatchewan doctor who believes fibromyalgia is real, sharing stories of dismissive physicians and the painful reality of needing a referral to see a specialist when no family doctor will take the condition seriously. Several members offered specific resources, including Dr. Fahlman (a rheumatologist with a long wait list) and doctors in Weyburn who acknowledge fibro, while others described their own diagnostic journeys involving elimination testing, pressure point checks, and even chiropractor-led probe testing that many GPs don't recognize. A recurring theme was the frustration of fighting for validation and disability benefits in a system that still questions whether fibromyalgia exists, coupled with deep empathy and gentle support from those who have walked the same difficult road.

Here in saskatchewan canada you can't get to a specialist unless you get a referral from your doctor. So I'm hitting a brick wall. So far I can't find a doctor who believes fibro is real . I would love to find a doctor who has fibro. Then I'm sure the reality of it would hit them.

I went to rheumatologist Dr Fahlman ( it took 25 months waiting list) she confirmed what my GP was suspicious of: fibromyalgia. I was given an increase in my night time medication and sent on my way. I would like to find a professional too. I was diagnosed two years ago by my doctor who referred me to Dr Fahlman. I guess I would like to find a pain clinic that specializes in Fibro. I don't know if there is anything available in Regina specifically for Fibro but I was thinking of looking for a pain clinic as they might help.
