Hi,

Do you also get huge flare up before getting a cold, or other small sickness?

Members connected over the frustrating experience of fibromyalgia flares that occur before, during, or after getting sick, with many describing increased pain, fatigue, and symptoms appearing days before a cold actually develops. Several members shared that flares are unpredictable and can be triggered by illness, weather changes, stress, dental procedures, or sometimes nothing at all, with the pain often persisting long after the original trigger has passed. A recurring theme was the emotional toll of living with invisible symptoms that others dismiss or misunderstand, including family members who view them as hypochondriacs, making community support and validation all the more essential.

My flares come after the cold. Like it just won’t go away. Weakness, aching, fatigue. Immunizations do this too.

Funny you should mention what I think of "trauma memory." I've come to notice that the site of surgical procedures tend to continue aching forever. I feel every surgery on my back even though the events happened years ago.

Problems also with teeth. They were trying to get me to have one permanent implants for one tooth, Decided to just get a root canal and a crown. Why get a implant where I am 100% sure I will feel it for the rest of my life.

I’ve had it many many years and still can’t figure out what sets off a flare. Sometimes stress, sometimes overdoing and sometimes nothing. I’m always tired though. No matter what. The older I get the worse it seems. Have had a couple of good days which is wonderful though. Hope you find some relief. Love Linda 🦋🌸🦋🌸🦋🌸🦋🌸

I go into flareups the week before I get cold or flu symptoms and it drives me crazy because I can't be sure about the reason for the flareup if there's a reason which isn't always the case. It's really bad too. The meds stop working, the pain gets wore with more full body soreness, no sleep, more spasms, and no way to get any relief. Of course it can just be the onset of seasonal allergies too. There doesn't seem to be any way of avoiding the flareup either. I'd be grateful to hear how the flareup can be alleviated.
