Members overwhelmingly confirmed that hand pain is a common fibromyalgia symptom, with many experiencing it alongside conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome, osteoarthritis, or both, making it difficult to pinpoint the exact cause. Several members strongly recommended compression gloves (available on Amazon, eBay, or Walgreens) as a helpful tool for managing stiffness, aching, and pain, though results varied from person to person. A recurring theme was the importance of consulting a rheumatologist or doctor to distinguish between fibromyalgia and arthritis, with one member sharing that the ability to make a fist can be a helpful indicator of fibro versus arthritic involvement.

My fibro pains usually starts on my hands. My Rheumatologist said if you make a fist, probably is Fibro. But if you cannot make a fist, then check with your doctor, might be arthritis too.

Mine hurt bad too. I don't think mine is carpal tunnel I think it is arthritis. My rheumatologist suggested getting some compression gloves. The finger tips are open. I got mine at Walgreen's. They are between $20 and $30. Gentle hugs

Mine hurt . My thumbs feel like I have jammed my thumbs, right hand worse. Had carpal tunnel surgery on right hand. Have it as well in my left, but never got the surgery on left. Certain weather I get pins and needles in both hands. If I use them depending on what I do. My hands hurt more. I have fibro and osteoarthritis. Fibro all 18 trigger points and osteoarthritis all over in every joint and spine. I sometimes not sure when I hurt which 1 it is or both. I no that arthritis is joints and fibro is nerves and muscles. Hugs and Prayers

At times my hands hurt so bad it brings me to tears. Other times they tingle and feel numb, and sometimes they don't work right. It's very frustrating but it helps to know I'm not alone.

I am trialling compression gloves, love the softness of them, knitting is a wee challenge so I slow down, got a pair from America and going to buy a pair from The Warehouse when I get near a store to see how good they are. I have arthritis and suspecting carpel tunnel, will trial gloves first and also use FX cream that I sent away for again to America I think. It has natural ingredients. Till then ‘the jury is out’
Good luck gentle hugs and love from Kiwi Kay
