Hello, further to my question about Fibro friendly washing products, why does our skin become more sensitive. Redness, burning, itching etc? I’m still confused about all this, if it’s a nerve issue why would our skin get red more easily or dry etc? I’m struggling to understand this condition 😒

Members shared their experiences with the frustrating skin sensitivity that often accompanies fibromyalgia, with many describing heightened reactions to touch, clothing, temperature, and even light, while expressing confusion about why nerve issues would cause visible skin changes like redness and dryness. Several members offered practical relief strategies, including moisturizers like Aveeno Baby, CeraVe, The Body Shop's British Rose line, and natural oils such as grapeseed or hemp seed oil applied to damp skin. A recurring theme was the emotional toll of not being believed by doctors, especially when mental health conditions are present, met with strong validation and solidarity from the community that members' experiences are real and deserving of compassionate care.

It is your nerve endings but you become sensitive to everything I’m sensitive to heat, cold, sometimes when I have a shower the water is to much on my skin my hearing is sensitive the sunlight hurts my eyes and yes I’m on to many meds they are still tweaking them. πŸ€—

I’m so sensitive you could put a grain of sand on my skin somewhere and I would notice straight away!

I have one set of clothes I can tolerate, everything drives me insane to wear. Not huge pain but feel suffocated and agitated.
