Members connected over their shared experiences with irritable bowel syndrome, with many describing how IBS has been a long-term companion to fibromyalgia and often worsens during fibro flares or periods of high stress. Several members shared practical strategies that have helped manage their symptoms, including daily Miralax or stool softeners for constipation, probiotics and acidophilus supplements, low-FODMAP diets guided by dieticians, and eating small amounts of nuts like almonds or walnuts to promote regularity. A recurring theme was the unpredictable nature of IBS, the importance of identifying personal triggers like specific foods or anxiety, and the encouragement to work closely with doctors to find individualized solutions.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, @A MyFibroTeam Member and anyone else who has problems going to the washroom, I also suffer constipation because of meds! I was eating this mix I loved the past year and noticed it helped me go to the washroom! I realized it was the nuts in it and I was dieting so I started eating a bit of almonds, sunflower seeds, cashews or walnuts at night or throughout the day and omg it is heaven! I go everyday now and there is no pain, bloating or that hard stomach feeling anymore!! You don’t even have to eat a lot I find so I buy the big bag from Costco and put them in very small snack bags or just get a small amount to try it out! It might take a couple of days for it to start working but it’s worth a try even though we are all different!! Good luck and I hope it helps!

I’ve dealt with IBS since my early 20’s and found that acidophilus and diet help greatly, but I still get the occasional flare from time to time. This increases during Fibromyalgia flares.

I have had ibs forever and different meds and stress definitely make it worse it seems I get some what on a routine but never feel empty then I have a med change that throws everything off I take 3 stool softness every night and most times they don’t even help I have had to take milk of magnesia like 3 days in a row and still never feel emptied out. It is not fun but I guess most of us have it.
