I'm searching online for better understanding but its confusing me. I need help to make sense of my immune system now.

I ate some roast beef sandwiches with the family at lunch time and a few hours later, I'm suffering from diarrhea and nausea for the rest of the day. Nobody else had a negative reaction to the lunch but me.

My question is this: does our immune system weaken from fm? If not, then my husband thinks it might be food poisoning.

Members discussed whether fibromyalgia weakens the immune system after one person experienced digestive issues following a meal that didn't affect anyone else. Several members shared that irritable bowel syndrome is commonly linked to fibromyalgia and that food sensitivities to beef, gluten, dairy, and artificial sweeteners can trigger symptoms, with many finding relief by eliminating or limiting these foods. A recurring theme was the importance of seeing a gastroenterologist for proper diagnosis, as some members discovered related conditions like lymphocytic colitis through colonoscopy, and the recognition that chronic stress from living with fibromyalgia can indirectly impact immune health.

IBS is related to fibro. You also should avoid processed foods such as breads. Gluten and lactose and sugar can play a big part in irritating our stomach with fibro.

I had that happen along with constipation, they thought I had Irritable bowel. I talked with my GI doctor he wanted to do a colonoscopy to R/O lymphocytic colitis, bingo I have another disease to add to my list. I’m hoping this round of steriods takes care of it. So if it continues - mine would wax and wane. See a GI doctor and ask for a colonoscopy with biopsies to Rule/out it! It’s a microscopic colitis.

Hi there, sounds like irritable bowel syndrome. See if your symptoms match.
I understand our immune systems are compromised. Not 100 percent. Think I need to look it up again myself. Hope this helps, keep researching. Hope you feel better. D

Unfortunately irritable bowel syndrome is part of fibro so that sure can cause the diarrhea. It if enough to keep me from going out a lot where Foo foo is served.

I have noticed that too much beef tears my stomah up. I have had fm for 15 years . I have learned to limit beef , limit dairy fat, and cut out ALL artificial sweeteners. Seems to be part of my most effective management strategy
