I am currently on tramadol and valuim for pain because I hurt my back at work. So I got curious because I know some people on here as mentioned tramadol. So I did some research and it’s one of the few that can be used for fibromyalgia pain. But, I also read it can be addictive. So my question is: what have everyone else have experience with this drug and is it worth talking about with my doctor about using it as something I can take while I’m at work for pain?

Members shared mixed experiences with tramadol for fibromyalgia pain, with many finding it helpful for managing daily activities and improving sleep, though several emphasized the importance of using it cautiously due to its addictive potential and cognitive effects. Several members described successful long-term use at low, stable doses (ranging from 50mg to 100mg slow-release), with some able to take breaks without dependency, while others warned about tolerance buildup and the need for regular doctor monitoring to prevent misuse. A recurring theme was the advice to have an open conversation with a doctor about whether tramadol is appropriate for work-related pain management, to get proper X-rays if needed, and to consider alternatives like CBD oil, hydroxychloroquine, or physical therapy alongside any pain medication regimen.

CBD oil works incredibly well for me. It reduces my headaches, reduces muscle aches and pains & it does not make me feel stoned.
THC improves sleep, but I don’t use it during the day because I can’t deal with the effect. (I live in Alberta, Canada where it is legal)

@A MyFibroTeam Member please make you see a good opthomologist regularly as the Hydroxclorquin you are in can damage you parts of your vision. I was on it for years but had to come off of it because of other health issues.

I have been on Tramadol is 2015, and have never had an issue with it. The only change in it for me was the generic version i take so that it is gluten and preservative free.

Im on a slow release 100mg tablet twice a day and also am able to take another tablet at lunch time if i need to. Some days i have 3 but usually only in winter and or days i work. I do notice it helps the pain a lot, doesn't take it completely away but makes it way more manageable. Definitely helps me. I've been on it for about 2 years now.
