I feel like I’ve been beaten on my left side, in my lower back. Its in the area of my kidney I suppose.
My lab tests for kidney function was fine. I just wondered if anyone else is dealing with this type pain? Its not sharp or anything, just feels bruised inside, and like I’ve literally took a punch there or something?

Many community members confirmed they also experience the bruised, achy side and lower back pain described in the post, offering reassurance that this is a common fibromyalgia struggle. Several members shared that their pain is connected to related conditions like degenerative disc disease, bursitis, IBS, or piriformis muscle issues, with practical relief tips including heating pads, Epsom salt soaks, ice packs, and topical creams. A recurring theme was the frustrating challenge of figuring out whether each new symptom is fibro-related or something else, met with mutual understanding and encouragement.

I have lower back and side pain, but I know the cause: I have degenerative disk disease in my lumbar region and had herniated disc about a year and a half ago in that same area. The injury took a long time to heal and I suffered sciatica down to my left ankle for a long while. Because I get stiff so easily thanks to both age and the fibromyalgia, my back acts up a lot and I will get rather bad pain on either side. And the fact that I have irritable bowel syndrome so frequently that my whole abdomen hurts horribly just adds to the experience of having a belt of pain. I didn't sign up for this, but it's what I have. I just try to work around all of it the best I can, just like everyone else here. God bless you. 🕊🕊

Hey there! Thank you both for responding! I have degenerative disc disease as well, and have had one back operation. I never thought about the pain being due to that, because it feels a little different than what I’m used to. Usually its sharp severe pain, or a tired feeling when I am down in my back, but this feels more like its in the muscle. Left side. I guess its a possibility though that its a disc. I also have IBS too. How odd?!
Seems like many of us are suffering with the same things along with fibro. Im beginning to wonder if its all tied together?

Yes yes yes. It is debilitating. The only thing that fixes it is my heating pad and Percocet. I must always be aware of my sick back after I get the pain fixed. But I was always a "doer". Such is life !!
