Members confirmed a strong connection between IBS-D flares and low back pain, with many attributing the pain to intense intestinal contractions during episodes. Several members shared medications and supplements that have helped them manage symptoms, including hyoscyamine (a smooth muscle relaxer), Imodium, L-Glutamine, Metamucil, amitriptyline, and PPIs for reflux, with some noting that treating reflux also improved their IBS. A recurring theme was the importance of identifying trigger foods, using heating pads for pain relief, working with a GI specialist for proper testing and treatment, and recognizing that digestive issues are common in the fibromyalgia community.

I have IBS and the only medicine I take is Imdioum and nothing else because my doctor has had me to take other medicine but nothing else works for me but the Imdioum

I am on a ppi. I usually have more constipation but I have not been eating as healthy with the holidays. The low back pain seems to be associated with the loose stools. Thanks for your encouragement.

I do hon and watching out for trigger foods is a good place to start. I also have reflux disease and once they put me on a ppi it seemed to help the IBS as well. I still have bouts but nothing like when it first started (I once had a flare that lasted 3 months!!
