Hi all! I have heard a lot of mixed reviews in general about how effective acupuncture is. So, I'm curious how effective it has been for any of you with fibro pain, especially during flares. If you have done it, did you apply directly to the pain or elsewhere? How many times did it take to get relief? Was it long-term or short-term relief? Wondering if it's worth the cost. Thanks! For reference: I experience horrible muscle tensing in my back, shoulders, and neck that turns it all into a shell… read more

Members shared widely varied experiences with acupuncture for fibromyalgia pain, with some reporting meaningful short-term relief from headaches and overall pain lasting 3-5 days, while many others found it ineffective or even painful, with one member experiencing unusual bleeding and another describing nerve sensitivity that made continuing treatment impossible. Several members offered alternative suggestions, including myofascial release therapy covered by insurance under physical therapy, pool therapy, and chiropractic care, with one member finding dramatic relief from frozen neck and shoulder muscles through spinal manipulation despite the high cost. A recurring theme was the financial burden of ongoing acupuncture treatments, with members cautioning others to clarify upfront how many sessions would be required and whether weekly visits would be expected long-term before committing.

Hi, I have tried acupuncture. It didn't help, on the contrary, I think my body doesn't resonate with it. I tried few qualified people just to be sure ..but is not working for me. I have headache daily and migraines 2-3 times/month. Also lots of pain and flares up in my joints, big pain..acupuncture didn't help me with any of this. This is, of course, my personal experience.

I don’t know if you realize it, but you’re answering old questions from years ago. And the person that posted the question probably will never see your comment. Just thought you’d like to know.🩷🦋

Hi..I tried it and it seemed to help. However....I had to go 2 a week then Dr wanted ongoing 1 a week. Way to expensive for my pocket book and I had to give it up. I would make sure the dr tells you many visits and how long. If I had known it was to be ongoing I would have never gotten involved. Good luck 😏

I had relief from headaches the same day. It will usually cut the all over pain down as well for 3-5 days
