Does anyone have any ideas on alternative ways to cope with the pains I have in my hands and wrists? It is getting worse every day and it is now at the point where I have pains even trying to hold a cup, I have tried Meds they don't help, the pains don't respond to them, some make them worse, any ideas would help as I intend to try everything I can find to help myself as I feel no one else wants to help, professionally that is.

Members rallied around someone struggling with debilitating wrist and hand pain that medication hasn't helped, offering a variety of practical relief strategies they've personally found useful. Several members recommended heat or cold therapy, gentle massage, wrist wraps or braces (especially during sleep or repetitive tasks), topical prescription gel like Diclofenac Sodium, TENS units with gloves, copper gloves, and even magnetic bracelets. A recurring theme was the unpredictable nature of hand and wrist pain in rheumatoid arthritis, with many noting that flares can come and go without warning, sometimes affecting both hands simultaneously, and that finding what works often requires patience and trial and error.

I sleep with wraps on my wrists.

I recommend a TENS unit with the gloves, also Copper gloves and wrist splints. I too have Wrist and Hand pain in both hands, usually one hand or the other but at times both at the same time, those are what I use that I find helpful.

My hands & wrist hurt & swell up for few days...then goes away just like that. Both hands at the same time. My hydro sometimes helps but not always. This is something new do will ask my RA doc about it on my next visit.

You may find some relief with Diclofenac Sodium Topical Gel. It is a prescription.
