Members shared their experiences with Percocet for pain management, with several confirming it provides relief but emphasizing the importance of taking medication early before pain becomes severe, as waiting too long can make even stronger options ineffective. Many members expressed frustration with the challenges of accessing opioid pain medications due to stricter regulations, pharmacy stock shortages, and stigma around addiction, while sharing that they personally have used opioids responsibly after surgeries and injuries without becoming dependent. A recurring theme was the distinction between physical dependence and addiction, with members advocating for better access to effective pain relief for those who genuinely need it while acknowledging the complexity of chronic pain that differs from post-surgical recovery.

Wow! Something like that would be awesome. I'll do some research on it too! Thanks for the info.

To expand on my answer, and what I have tried to explain to my doctor, this is a totally different kind of pain than any surgery pain I have ever had. I never could have imagined myself asking for pain melds but for this pain it is the only temporary relief I get. To even be able to sleep, get out of bed and into a hot tub and then try to function from there it is the only thing that keeps me moving. I will try and have tried every latest new remedy and pray something will be discovered that can bring long term relief, and soon, for all of us.

Roseredm: So true about the addictiveness of opiods. Way back, my mom was taking the really hard core stuff (you can't get anywhere near now) after surgeries etc. She was NEVER addicted in any way!! At 15, I was in a massive car accident (broken pelvis, thrown through windshield etc.) I had months of recovery & was on strong opioids for awhile. I was never addicted (when I healed & the pain stopped so did the meds). Now I have to jump through hoops, swear on my soul & do Chinese arithmetic backwards to prove I'm not abusing meds!! I have SEVERAL issues that on their own would each qualify the medication, but combined!!! It's crazy. I feel for those who are facing any type of addiction, but those of us who don't & never have, should have access to the medication that alleviates severe pain. Just my opinion.

Taralyn216: I also take Percocet. The trick with ANY medication is to NOT wait too long to take it. I make that mistake all the time!! Take your meds as soon as you know your starting to feel the pain is a bit more pronounced than usual. If you wait till severe pain, Morphine/Dilaudid etc. might not even work (my doc & several E.R. docs told me this).

@StepaniePeto They now have a fibro patch out, I haven't had any feed back on it as of yet maybe I'll do a search on it, but at least they are trying to find something that works. Hugs
