This has been bothering me for a while. I don't know if my lack of control is because of the constant pain, lack of sleep etc. from fibromyalgia, or if I have changed my temperament? If it is from having fibromyalgia for so long, then I can at least understand the reason and work at controlling myself. Thanking you in advance for your response.

Members opened up about experiencing heightened irritability and quick tempers with fibromyalgia, with the overwhelming consensus being that chronic pain, sleep deprivation, brain fog, and depression naturally erode patience and emotional reserves, making it hard not to snap especially at loved ones who are closest. Several members shared practical coping strategies including meditation and mindfulness, antidepressants like Effexor or Prozac, swimming and hot tub therapy, separate bedrooms to improve sleep quality, laughing daily for its health benefits, and giving themselves grace to step away when overwhelmed. A recurring theme was the loneliness and guilt of losing one's former calm temperament, the strain fibromyalgia places on marriages and relationships, and the relief of realizing through this community that they are not alone in this painful transformation.

I read theres a high number of divorce among couples where one spouse has fibro. My husband and I have been married for 45 years . We had problems before, but now with fibro they have skyrocketed. He helps me but not enough. He says I boss him around to much. Sometimes I think living by myself might bring me more peace and less stress.....but I might end up living under a bridge and that brings me back to reality......JEsus help me to cope with my fibro

I think we all get fed up at times and snap for no reason. Especially to those that love us. My poor guy has been snapped up more than a little bit and he is so helpful. He's out getting my groceries right now. I think it has to do with the pain level and the lack of sleep. I find that since I've moved into my own room I'm doing better. I also have an adjustable bed which is a godsend. At least I'm not waking him up When I'm awake all night. All we can do is apologize and try better 🍫❤️B

Khalds, do you have any other health issues? My anxiety and depression causes a very short tolerance to sounds, lights, etc. I always take my meds but when I get like that I (and my family) know I need to discuss with psychiatrist to make some changes on the meds. My husband and I also have separate rooms or neither of us would sleep. My dog can barely handle all my constant flip-flopping. A good mattress helps too!
