What Is Your Experience With Numb Hands?

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I asked a question some days ago about numb hands, but now my question is extended from just having numb hands. I never received relief from my hand numbness it's on going with excruciating pain to my finger tips and when touched or stressed it shoots pain to my toes. There is also a spasm like line going down the center of my foot followed with headaches. Has anyone experienced anything similar. Is this in anyway related to fibro.

Members shared their experiences with hand numbness and nerve pain, with many describing similar symptoms including tingling, burning fingertips, foot spasms, and morning stiffness that makes it hard to move their hands. Several members offered practical strategies they've found helpful, including wearing gloves in cold weather, using heating pads, increasing water intake and potassium supplements (especially for those on Topamax), and getting imaging of the cervical and thoracic spine to check for nerve compression or previous surgery complications. A recurring theme was the challenge of distinguishing fibromyalgia symptoms from other conditions like carpal tunnel, diabetes-related neuropathy, or cervical spine issues, with many members emphasizing the importance of working closely with neurologists and surgeons to identify the root cause and find meaningful relief.

I take Topimax & occasionally experience nonstop tingling/numbness in my hands if I didn't increase my water intake the day before, but the benefits far outweigh these side effects in terms of eradicating horrific daily tension headaches for me personally. I recently started taking OTC potassium supplements right when the tingling starts (along with chugging tons of H2O), and it's really helped cut these episodes short!

Have your Cervical and Thoracic spine checked. I have the arm and hand issues from both Cervical and Thoracic Spondylosis

My experience has been the only relief is to use a heating pad and warm my hands. Most of the time that will help. Wish I had more to offer.

Do you take topomax for migraines? Side effect numbness in feet and hands. Or could be a nerve that can effect you.
