Members shared their experiences with balance issues and leaning to one side, identifying multiple potential causes including misaligned hips or spine, weak muscles from reduced activity, bursitis, vertigo, scoliosis, leg length differences, and disc problems. Many community members described practical approaches that helped them, including visiting a chiropractor for adjustments, doing targeted yoga stretches and exercises to strengthen weak muscles, seeing specialists like neurologists or ear doctors for vertigo, and using mobility aids like canes when needed. A recurring theme was the importance of getting a medical evaluation first to rule out serious causes, while also recognizing that balance problems and compensating for pain by favoring one side are common experiences among people living with fibromyalgia.

Could be a few things, your hip could be out of alignment, you could unconsciously be favoring one side if you have pain in the other, your spine could be swollen a little. Best bet would be to contact your Dr which usually means you have to make an appointment and have it checked and maybe an xray or MRI. Gentle hugs

Balance does seem to be a problem for fibro people. I get bouts of it. I get dizzy if I look up or down too long.

I had this happen to me and it turned out it was because I had weak muscles on the other side. When we don't feel good and don't do as much we end up sitting around or laying down so we lose muscle. Start thinking about where you sit the most. I always sit in the same spot all the time. I had a different couch before and it had these really big soft arms. I would sit on the left end since I had a little table there to sit drinks and stuff on. So I was spending a lot of time leaning into the left side of the couch and the muscles on the right got really weak. I was having really bad muscle spasms in my back on the right and then this one muscle twisted and kinked up into a ball. My primary doc at the time was useless. She actually felt it and said it was a really big knot but didn't refer me to a doctor or anyone that could help. She said maybe a massage would help but I later learned that they have doctors in the same clinic that could have helped me and my insurance would have covered it. I ended up fixing it myself by laying on one of those big @exercise balls. It was SO painful but it popped out. Anyway, if you are leaning that means you have muscles that are weak on one side. You can do stretches that can help and there are yoga moves that help balance things out again. Just concentrate on sitting straight up and not leaning into anything. At first I made myself sit in a kitchen chair for a while. My back would start hurting just from sitting there because it was so weak. I just worked on stuff at the table and eventually I got to where I didn't have to take breaks and rest from sitting. I started reaching up to the top of a door frame and stretching evenly.

I don't know for sure but maybe you are out of alignment in your spine or hips. Things like this could happen from being in pain and then starting a new pattern in our body. Just rambling thoughts.

"Happy Birthday, Tiffanie!" Whenever it is this month. Sounds like you have one leg shorter than the other, for sure. This can be caused by wear and tear of the hip and cartiledge. Something to check out. You take care. And be careful. Agape!
