Have any of y'all used foam rollers for myofasical release of muscle knot?
I read that tennis balls in a sock tied are good for trigger points.
I'm nervous about both potentially causing more pain, but willing to try it to release these painful knots and spasms throughout my whole body.
Have any of y'all had luck with either?
I use some foam balls specifically designed for self massage and myofacial release. Look up yoga tune up. They are really helpful
As a massage therapist i have used many tools. I find a racketball to be a bit softer than a tennis ball. There are many websites that explain how to use them. Treat it as though its a deep tissue massage or trigger point release. Take your time, hold the postion to let the muscles relax into it. Warm up first with gentle stretches. The pressure should feel intense but not over your pain threashold level. Start slow and don't overdo it. Drink plenty of water after. The next day you may feel some soreness but it will ease off with ice pack. I do gentle trigger point release on myself almost daily.
No, I have not, however , have used : ice chips , x 20 min _ favorite homemade cracked corn filled heating pad ,best ever. ! Ebsom Salt bath is delightful ! The magnesium is the ingredient that works so well .
My dad's wife uses hers a lot. She gave me her old one, but I personally don't care for it. It does crack my back though.
Thanks @A MyFibroTeam Member for the reminder to pace myself!
I have such a hard time with that...
I've been sick a little over a year and still haven't learned to pace myself, plus other pushing me saying that exercise and eating healthy is all that I need... Phew were they wrong.
But back to what I was talking about..
How long do you think I should start with?
I'm pretty unconditioned at the moment. This is my fourth week in severe pain, mostly in bed. :/ I know it's bad, but my legs swelling and hurting they way they have been has made it a challenge to walk.
