Members responded with reassurance and shared experiences to ease concerns about an abnormal Pap smear result, with nearly everyone reporting that their own abnormal results turned out fine upon retesting or were resolved through minor procedures. Several members explained that abnormal Pap smears are common and can be caused by HPV, lab contamination, or benign conditions, with some mentioning procedures like the LEEP procedure to remove abnormal cells or biopsies that revealed non-cancerous tumors. A recurring theme was encouragement not to worry prematurely, to ask plenty of questions at the follow-up appointment, and to remember that stress only makes the situation harder, with many offering prayers and soft support to help navigate the anxiety of waiting for results.

An abnormal pap can be because of a condition, that I cannot remember the name of, but tons of women have. It is not a bad thing, but makes the results of a pap need investigation. I wouldn't worry until there is something to worry about. I did end up having a biopsy at 19 for 3 abnormal pap smears in 3 months, and it was a golf ball sized, non-benign, tumour that they just removed. I too had a hysterectomy when I was 36, so no more worries for me, but that was an on-going issue. I know telling someone not to worry is not useful, but try not to let it over take you until you know your results honey. xx

I too have had a few abnormal pap smears. Like the others they redo them and they come back fine. Worry only makes it worse on you so just take it easy. Prayers and soft hugs.

I've had abnormal pap smears since my early twenty 's. I ended up having something called a leap procedure, that's when they go in and cut out the abnormal cells. That was 8 yrs ago. Now, I'm suppose to have a pap ever yr but I have not had any abnormal paps since. Try not to worry too much about it, you'll be ok.
