I recently had to leave my job because of health issues and now I don't have insurance because my husband has left the military and we are divorcing. Any advice about insurance? I'm doing patient assistance programs to get my meds for at least a year. But right now I"m paying out of pocket for my doctors' appointments which is crazy because I'm on my last paycheck. I"ve applied for disability, but we are waiting to hear back. Any suggestions?

Have you gone on the health care exchanges? Because you don't have a job, it should put you into the Medicaid system in your state. If your state does not allow you to receive Medicaid without a child living at home like the state I live in, you can ask for reduced rates from your doctors. Most of them will work with you if you communicate your situation. Also, if you need medical attention right away, go to the ER. They cannot refuse care to anyone.
When it comes to getting drugs that you need, ask your doctor if he has free samples to give you. Drug reps come in all the time and drop off drugs for doctors to hand out to patients. Some doctors will do this for you as long as they have them in the office especially when they know you need the help.
I know this isn't the perfect answer but I hope it helps.

Today I was listening to talk radio and there was a commercial on something called medishare. I haven't had a chance to look it up yet but from what they said on the radio, it's a religious based organization that helps with medical payments without having to buy any insurance. Not sure exactly how it works but it was made for people like you who have fallen in the gap.
Try looking it up online and see if it's something that can help you.

Well, I finally got disability. Just waiting for the payout. It's torture because I don't have a steady job and once again I don't have insurance because my husband held off the divorce and then quit his job. So I was done after that and handed him the papers and told him to pay for it.
