Do I need to mention Fibro on my holiday insurance and if so does that mean I need to let my car insurers know too - only diagnosed in March!

Members debated whether to disclose fibromyalgia on holiday insurance, with opinions split between those who emphasize transparency to avoid claim denial and those who choose not to disclose unless specifically asked. Several members shared practical experiences, including one who found declaring multiple conditions only added modest cost to European travel insurance, and noted that failure to disclose could void coverage if symptoms arise abroad, particularly in places like the US where medical costs are high. A recurring theme was the balance between legal protection and financial concerns, with most agreeing that if insurance companies ask directly about medical conditions, honesty is essential to avoid having claims rejected later.

definitely no. 99.9% sure they wouldn't know what it is.

Yes, your medical history is confidential however, if you are applying for holiday insurance you must declare fibromyalgia. If something happened and you didn't declare then the insurance is void. I put fibromyalgia and hypothyroidism on mine just to be on the safe side.

You are definitely better mentioning it.. And it doesn't put the premium up by much

If you take I'll on holiday and it can be classed, loosely or not, given the multitude of Fibro symptoms there are, you can be guaranteed the insurance company will invalidate your cover by not having it declared.

I was actually just pricing 7 days European ( incl Spain) by declaring it , ( they ask about neck and back as part of it so didn't have to declare separate) rheumatoid arthritis, breast cancer, Vaso Vagal attacks, anxiety, depression and was surprised it was only £63
An annual multiple trip was £213
Hope this helps xx

Gentle hugs

@A MyFibroTeam Member I've never mentioned it to be honest it just gives them an excuse to bump up the premium x
