Hi all,
How did you accept the fact that you have Fibro? I am struggling so much. It is hard not to be able to do the things that I use to do. Not to be able to be who I use to be. I know I should focus on the future and the good things but I am missing so much of my old life. I cannot even play piano anymore. It is just too sore. I cannot paint for too long. I can barely clean the house! HOW do I accept this? I am angry and frustrated.
Hi there , Fibro is known as the "little death" and that basically means for some, life as they knew it has changed beyond recognition that you feel part of you & your old life died , and you want the " old active pain free happy you back" .. It does to take time to accept that some days you will do better than others , but your anger and frustration is completely justified, it also changes family dynamics, many of us were or still are the organisers and doers, and having to deal with a condition that seems to control your day to day life is hard to adjust to. My advice is take each day as it comes, educate those around you about the condition , we can feel very isolated with our family and friends , you look in your photo a beautiful lady.. don't forget you still are.. acceptance comes with time, but the more you get upset and stressed about what was, you could lose sight of what is, you are on here looking for support and just admitting you are struggling is strength in itself Hugs Hetty xx
it's ok to be angry . it is very hard to accept the new limitations we have on us we are used to doing everything but there does come a point that we need to just put away the anger and frustration and just get on with living no matter what form that takes . i hope this helps at least a little .
I am finding it hard. I have 8 children(6 living in the home) and they need things. They all play sports, heck until end of January, I played coed softball. Until I fell, and that did it. After I fell, the whole month of February was like an uphill struggle. The pain got worse. I went for X-ray and discovered degenerate joint disease and diagnosed with fibro, bone spurs, bursitis. Idk I am a mess most days. And I keep most emotions inside. I feel like they don't understand and so that makes it hard to accept when others still look at you normal.
Honestly I am struggling with this too. I was just diagnosed in late May of this year. It was a relief to finally have an answer after years of not knowing but then it hits you like a ton of bricks.... I have freaking fibro... Wth!? I decided to let myself feel the sadness and anger... I gave myself a good 10 days to feel this way and then I decided ok, now what am I going to do about it! I refuse to let this turn me into a negative person. I had plans and goals!! How do I alter them so I can still be happy with the outcome my body will let me have? I am still struggling with this. I am trying to compartmentalize and just focus and tackle one thing at a time. First on my list was accepting that I am not going to be able to go and do anything and everything that comes down the pike, I think this one is going to be something I will have to revisit every so often. Now I am focusing on the sleep aspect of fibro. This one for me is difficult and is going to take a while in regard s to working closely with my doctor and looking for a job with a steadier schedule ( currently I work anywhere from 9 - 12 hour days and sometime the shift is early and sometime late). Once I feel I have that situated I'll tackle the next thing. In short... Allow yourself to grieve and to be angry but don't allow that past a certain point. Then focus on one thing at time; there are so many aspects and avenues to fibro, trying to change everything all at once is daunting and overwhelming. *hugs* hang in there!
Will it took me awhile to adjust to have Fibromyaliga. But one day I was in so much pain. I just cried out to God and Jesus asking for help. I believe the next Sunday I got my answer at church. Our priest was saying their is always a reason why your where your are in life some have it easy because them not be able to handle the tough stuff and some are stronger and they carry a heavier load. When I don't think I can do this anymore I just stop and think of what Jesus load was and the he had to go thought to die for our sins. Pray and pray more don't worry about other or what you can do or not do open a new door and look until you fine something that you can do. And somethings it will mean going down a different path!!! God Bless You!!
