The choice is to accept or reject…or feel at peace or feel miserable. I choose to accept as I prefer to feel at peace. 💜
Bobconstans, now you dropped a mantra bomb. That's awesome. That takes me back too. It took me a while to develop mine but I knew I had to have something to say immediately when I was I faced with something difficult. So mine is "recognize your resilience". It allows me to honor the positives in my former self and know I can move forward while adapting to my new life changes. May you all be well and find positives❤️☯️💖
It's tough. And it requires The (really) Long View. Mostly it requires Determination to do so (tenacity, stubbornness, ...) - to claw back some sort of Life. And using your intelligence to override what you are seeing and feeling Now.
One if the things that saved me was coming up with a Mantra, something to cling to and repeat over and over when things got Screaming BAD. 'It is what it is.'
When it's a good day, say it to not feel too or false Hopeful, when it's a bad day, say it to remind you that it is transitory. When it's a normal shitty day, say it to remind you that there have been worse days and that tiny progress IS progress.
Barring miracles and surprise advances in medicine, we will Never be like we were, but we can still have a smaller Life worth the living. And that's okay. It is what it is.
Omg liaR2, you dropped a Jung bomb, that takes me back to my youthful days of learning from the one of my favorite psychologists. Ah, I remember it, thank you for that wonderful reminder. I'm so glad to be a part of this site. I get so many fond memories that I was missing for so long. Sorry for hijacking your post lore. Had to comment on memory returning. Fibromyalgia doesn't take everything 😉
I agree with Kathy971. Pain is a part of life. Misery is an option. You have to remind yourself that it's not your fault that you have fibro. There's all kinds of pain that thousands of people suffer with. We just have to deal with it the best we can. We all have our emotional up .and down days, but we get thru them. We have to adapt to our feelings, even tho it's not easy. Remind yourself that you're strong and you can endure what life thrown at you. Just like all of us in this group. We're not alone. We have each other for support. Hang in there Lore! Never give up hope.
