I have tried various combinations of vitamins. Supplements. Antidepressants, gabapentin, naltrexone and pain medications with minimal effect. Is there anyone who manages their symptoms with diet, exercise and other natural type treatments? Thinking of kicking the meds.
I think that managing fibro without meds is attainable depending on you, and how severe your symptoms get. When I was younger, such as yourself, I did it. Now, no way in hell!!!!
I no longer take any medications for pain, etc. My only prescription at this time is for thyroid, but I do take quite a few supplements. A natural diet of no preservatives, no processed food, low sugar and salt, lots of fruit and vegetables, and a slow transition to exercise have changed my life. My fibroflares have decreased from two to three days a week to two to three days a month. Everyone is different but this is working for me. After 15+ years of sleeping, sitting on the couch, and being in pain, I now feel like I have my life back.
Debbie, i worked with my doctor to wean off my meds by slowly decreasing the dose. So for gabapentin, i was on 300 mg x3 daily. He dropped me to 200 mg x2 daily and 300 mg at bedtime. Then 100 mg x2 daily and 200 at bedtime. 100 mg once daily. 200 bedtime. 100 my at bedtime then off lol. The supplements i did my own research and trial and error until I found a combination that seemed to help. Good luck!
How did you determine which supplements to take? Were they prescribe by a doctor? Also, how did you wean off your meds?
I haven't tried savella yet. I already feel like a walking drug experiment! It might be worth a shot just so I can say I tried. Thanks everyone for the support.
