Neurologist Appointment

A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have an appointment with my neurologist tomorrow who has been looking after me for the last 10 years for chronic migraine, do you think he will be interested in my fibro diagnosis? Not sure whether to bring it up!

Members strongly encouraged someone to share their fibromyalgia diagnosis with their neurologist during an upcoming appointment, with the overwhelming consensus being that all doctors need to know every diagnosis and medication to provide the most effective treatment. Several members shared positive experiences with neurologists who either diagnosed their fibromyalgia, treated both migraines and fibro together, or adjusted treatment plans once fibro was mentioned, with many noting that migraines and chronic headaches are common symptoms of fibromyalgia that should be addressed holistically. A recurring theme was the importance of advocating for yourself by bringing complete symptom lists to appointments, as coordinated care between specialists leads to better outcomes, with the member later updating the group that their neurologist responded positively and shifted focus to managing fibro symptoms alongside well-controlled migraines.

Had a successful trip to see my neurologist who is concentrating more on my fibro as he feels my migraines are being well managed with the Gabapentin - he's liaising with my GP to try and find somethings that will help with my mood and insomnia - Amytriptaline is know longer doing the job! Thanks everyone for your input on this question, means a lot to get good advice from those that having been fighting this condition as long as you have💕

Never hurts to all questions. If he can't help hell direct you to the right doctor. As for my migraines yes I've seen him for that and for when I ephasha (sp?). Some meds cause it that they gave me for my fibro and that Dr sent me to neurology. At the time I didn't know that it was the med causing it, but when my friend who went through it and was a nurse she told me what caused it so I had to get off the meds. Fibro fog is bad enough.
