Members overwhelmingly confirmed experiencing muscle spasms in their backs in response to the question, with many describing spasms that occur throughout their entire bodies, from head to toe, and can be severe enough to wake them from sleep or mimic heart attack symptoms. Several members shared management strategies that have helped them find relief, including prescription muscle relaxers like tizanidine, baclofen, Flexeril, and Zanaflex, TENS machines for targeted relief, heat therapy through heating pads or warm showers, massage from partners or self-massage tools like tai chi balls, and topical creams like Ben-Gay or Sombra gel. A recurring theme was that spasms are often linked to underlying conditions such as herniated or bulging discs, degenerative disc disease, osteoarthritis, and fibromyalgia, and that triggers can be unpredictable, sometimes occurring after physical activity and other times appearing without any clear cause.

Yes I have them too. I take amitriptolene for pain and sleep. And use a Tens machine on the spasms in my back and it Really helps look at my profile

i have also ended up in hospital with spasms in my chest, i was told i was having a heart attack over the phone even tho i wasn't but i had the same symptoms as a heart attack, you can never bee too careful, i was told to always call an ambulance if i have the same symptoms because one day it could be a heart attack, its crazy and scares the living daylights out of you.

Yes I have muscle spasms severe in my back. I am on muscle relaxers I have been for years. Not only do I get really bad spasms I get very bad tightening. I also take Norco to 10/325. And I also have Flexeril.

I get spasms in my scapular area with knots that need to be worked out, I also have degenerative disc disease and facet arthritis, and scoliosis, so my legs are different lengths and that makes my hip hurt because I am off balance plus I have osteoporosis and I am only 55. Hot showers help, Sombra gel is nice, and I have a prodisc at c5-6 for a herniation there, so a microwaved bag of flax seeds helps warm that area before bed. heating pads can really burn your skin if you sleep on them.
