Members overwhelmingly confirmed that emotional stress, whether positive or negative, consistently triggers or worsens fibromyalgia flares, with many describing the physical toll as feeling like being hit by a truck. Several members shared deeply personal situations causing ongoing stress, including challenging family relationships, caregiving for ill parents, job loss, relationship strain due to chronic illness, and the lasting impact of grief, while also noting practical approaches like pacing activities, practicing mindfulness, and creating peaceful environments to minimize stress triggers. A recurring theme was the harsh reality that stress is often unavoidable, yet recognizing it as a major flare trigger has helped members better understand their bodies and advocate for their own boundaries, even when that means difficult choices about relationships or stepping back from responsibilities.

stress is very hard on me. I have a lot of stressful things going on right now and it is hard and the pain has made it impossible to even get out of bed some days. I hope things get better for you.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, I understand that roller coaster. I can't get away either. I try to let go but it affects my future and makes it very uncertain. Very stressful.

Yes it does. I cooked a big dinner for my family Saturday and I've been down ever since. I really enjoy doing this even though I pay for it later.
