Members shared their experiences with frozen shoulder in relation to fibromyalgia, with several noting that while frozen shoulder itself is typically caused by injuries like rotator cuff or labral tears leading to scar tissue and adhesions, fibromyalgia can amplify the pain and complicate recovery. Many community members found relief through cortisone or steroid injections administered by orthopedic surgeons under radiographic guidance, foam roller exercises, and pool therapy, with one member regaining 60% mobility after treatment. A recurring theme was the importance of continuing daily shoulder exercises to prevent complete freezing, even though it feels frustrating and endless, as tight muscles from fibromyalgia can further restrict shoulder movement and increase the risk of adhesions returning.

@A MyFibroTeam Member a frozen shoulder is caused by scar tissue build up in an area of injury in the shoulder. Injuries such as rotator cuff or labrum tears are just a couple places where this can occur. The "frozen " part is an inflammatory response against the shoulder injury causing the build up of scar tissue or adhesions. It is not caused by Fibromyalgia however, I can attest that having a frozen shoulder is excruciating and the only relief I received was from radiografic guided injections. I actually was able to get about 60% of my mobility back in that arm. Good luck with this. It's a common occurrence among people with diabetes or metabolic syndrome.
