I've been on gabapentin (900 mg a day)... for a good few weeks. . Getting on fine....

It's just I've had some horrific anxiety attacks this last week x
One just now that I'm still shaking and crying from xx

Could the gabapentin be linked?

I am a sufferer of panic attacks xx

Members responded to someone experiencing panic attacks while on gabapentin, with experiences varying widely, some taking the medication for years without issue while others reported increased anxiety, hyperactivity, dizziness, and panic symptoms when starting or adjusting doses. Several members shared practical strategies including talking to a doctor before making changes, keeping emergency medication like diazepam or Klonopin on hand, slowly tapering off gabapentin if needed, or switching to pregabalin if side effects persist. A recurring theme was the reassurance that panic attacks can be both a medication side effect and a standalone condition common in fibromyalgia, and that trial and error with medical guidance is often necessary to find what works best for each person.

Gabapentin increased my anxiety and made me kind of hyper which in turn, caused more pain from over doing it! Most people say it makes them drowsy but I couldn't get to sleep until midnight or later the whole time I took it. I also have panic disorder.

I had horrific panick attacks that would last up till 4 days no sleep shaking vomiting cramping crying all at once and i mean none stop my husband would eventually ring an ambulance to take me to hospital so the doctor's would give me a shot of valium to stop it i actually thought I was dying this happened about 5 times over 2 months and i told my doctors if you send me home without a long term treatment i was going to shoot myself i told them i don't want to die i just can't handle these panick attacks so they proscibed avanza wich worked and about 4 months later i was diognosed with fybromyalgia and they changed me to cymbalta wich has helped with anxiety but most days my pain is unbearable but i just think tomorrow will be better .
