Members connected deeply over the frustrating experience of simultaneously feeling freezing cold and sweating profusely, a symptom many attributed to fibromyalgia rather than menopause. Several members shared practical strategies that have helped them cope, including sleeping with lightweight cotton clothing, using cooling pads in pillowcases, keeping a small fan nearby, layering blankets strategically (like wearing only a pajama top or leaving one leg uncovered), and one member found relief through oxybutynin prescribed by their doctor. A recurring theme was the exhausting cycle of throwing covers on and off throughout the night, the toll this takes on sleep quality and overall symptom management, and the relief of knowing others truly understand this bizarre and miserable experience.

I totally understand the hot and cold sweats. They are horrible! My doc prescribed oxybutynin 5 mg and the sweats are gone. This med is usually prescribed for irritable bladder, but for me it stopped the sweats. Also it curbed my appetite so the weight I gained with Cymbalta is slowly coming off. You have to increase your water intake a lot -- A LOT -- but it helped me. I'm lucky to have a doc who searches for answers.

I am exactly the same way. I am cold then hot, sweaty then I pull off blankets then I get cold. I've had to get up and change sometimes cuz my clothes feel wet. Sometimes it's just my head that hot and sweaty. I hate it!

OMG. That is me exactly. Didn't want to mention it because I thought how can I say this? No one will understand. This site is so good for me. I have IBS n also was hypoglycemic. To know I am not going crazy imagining all this is a big relief. I am really sorry for all the suffering you are all going thru as well. Take care. Gentle hugs to all oh one question please. Does anyone else have severe wrist pain, neck pain n at night leg cramps?

I know what you mean!! This is all part of the fibro girls. It is one of the many symptoms that we have to deal with. Try to wear cool cotton things to bed and keep a light comforter over yourself with a heavy on the side in case you need it. Seems to work for me:)
