Members shared their experiences managing IBS symptoms including constipation alternating with diarrhea, painful bloating, and gas, with many confirming these align with classic IBS patterns. Several members found relief through medications like Linzess, Bentyl, and over-the-counter options such as probiotics, fiber supplements, Align, Gas-X, and stool softeners, with many emphasizing the importance of trial and error to find what works individually. A recurring theme was the need to manage IBS alongside other conditions like GERD, fibromyalgia, and previous surgeries, with practical lifestyle adjustments including dietary changes, weight management, increased fiber and protein intake, and avoiding trigger foods like spicy or greasy meals.

Sounds like IBS to me... I try to keep my fiber intake up and avoid foods that I know cause me to have problems with gas. Taking Morphine for pain tends to cause constipation so I use a stool softener like Colace and I use Fiber Choice gummy chews when I feel the need...and it helps...

I have ibs mostly with constipation... Then a couple days with diarrhea... And back again for another 2 weeks... Couldn't pass gas and would start ballooning up in the abdominal area with tons of pain... Looked like I was 10 months pregnant. Dr put me on lindzess.... Less bloating, constipation, and abdominal pain... More regular... Not completely better but a step in the right direction.

Really interesting that your weight is a factor... I wonder if that would affect me as well. I am not really overweight by any means but I wouldn't say my body is healthy either. Maybe just making my current weight a healthier one would help me.

I too have GERD but when my weight goes down - the need for Prilosec is less. I know that my weight has been a major factor in how much discomfort I experience but it is very difficult to force myself to exercise when I am dead tired from not sleeping. I have recently started making smoothies almost daily with berries, banana and yogurt - this has helped me with IBSD...
