Can anyone make any suggestions on what to do? How can the effects of medications drying your mouth be decreased? The dryness of my mouth is believed to be the cause of the tooth decay mainly at night. I have tried the patches lozenges biotene biotene products make me nauseous. Every 6 months I have new decay this last time was 3 brand new fillings on surfaces that had never been filled. A year ago I had six new feelings. And then 3 years ago I had 5 new fillings

Members shared their struggles with chronic dry mouth caused by medications, which leads to rapid tooth decay despite diligent oral hygiene, with many experiencing multiple new cavities every six months. Several members recommended practical strategies including keeping water nearby for constant sipping, using fluoride trays prescribed by dentists, trying ACT mouthwash instead of Biotene, and exploring oil pulling with coconut or sesame oil as a natural remedy. A recurring theme was the frustration of watching teeth deteriorate despite brushing and flossing multiple times daily, the financial burden of dental work, and the relief of discovering they were not alone in this painful side effect.

Biotene doesn't do anything for me but dry me out even worse, I use ACT that seems to help a little bit you can't drink anything for a half hour after you use it. That way it get's to go deeper into the blood vessels instead of being washed out when you do your final rinse

I actually prefer cold pressed sesame oil (NOT the toasted sesame oil you use in Chinese food). Coconut oil definitely works well, though! I like to mix essential oils into oil sometimes. Myrrh is what I use most often, the taste is unfortunate, kind of like latex gloves, but it makes my mouth feel really clean.

I intermittently have problems with dry mouth. I use Biotene dry mouth rinse (Target has a generic that works just as well but is much cheaper) to really good effect.

Have you tried oil pulling? Some people find it helps a lot with dry mouth.

I have the very same isuue. It is just awful and I hate it as much or more than you. My dentist gave me thin pliable plastic trays, I had to get them molded to fit my teeth, and fluoride that I'm supposed to use for 15 minutes a day. Sadly, I am always too exhausted to do it. But ask your dentist about it. I did have a couple visits with nothing wrong!
