I take 600mg of Gabapentin at bedtime with 10mg of Lexapro (for anxiety) My question is how does Gabapentin effect you in the daytime. It seems to wear off about 12 hours later. I can set my clock to it. So do you take a higher dose at bedtime or take a dose 12 hours later?

Members shared their varied experiences with gabapentin dosing schedules, with the overwhelming consensus being that spreading doses throughout the day (typically 3-4 times) provides more consistent pain relief than a single nighttime dose, as the medication tends to wear off after 3-4 hours for many people. Several members described specific regimens that worked for them, ranging from 300mg three times daily to 800mg four times daily, with many adjusting their bedtime dose higher or adding extra doses as needed for breakthrough pain. A recurring theme was the importance of working closely with doctors to find the right schedule and dosage, being consistent with timing to avoid symptom return, and taking it with food to minimize side effects like wooziness or fatigue.

Hi...
I take Gabapentin four times a day. It actually works better if you spread them out throughout the day. Because beforehand they have a chance to wear off...you still have it in your system even over night. I used to experience the burning of my skin...deep within. However, now that ice been taking it through out the day...I no longer experience that. And even if I accidentally miss a dose, I still don't experience those symptoms.
Hope that helps you out.

I found that gabapentin wore off quite fast so my GP increased mine to 4 x per day and it has made such a difference, I take 900mg with 100mg of tramadol on each dose...every 4 hours seems to work best as I can feel the effects begin to fade at around the 3 hour point.

I've been taking 600 in am and 600 in pm for a couple weeks now. I do notice I hurt more in the afternoon, but it hasn't been as bad as it had been. It does make me very woozy if I don't take it with food. For the first week I was very sleepy but I think I'm getting used to it. Hope that helps!
