Hello. Is anyone currently taking a muscle relaxer for your FM. If so, would you mind sharing which one? I'm so afraid of all meds due to side effects, but I'm in so much pain that my Dr. recommended something.

Members shared their experiences with various muscle relaxers for fibromyalgia pain, with Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) emerging as the most commonly used option, often taken at night to minimize daytime drowsiness and help with sleep. Several members mentioned that Soma worked well when other options failed, while others found success with Tizanidine, Zanaflex, Orphenadrine, and Robaxin, though experiences varied widely and some noted that finding the right medication required trial and error. A recurring theme was caution about side effects, including one member's serious vision problems from long-term muscle relaxer use, and the advice to take these medications only on really bad days or at night to avoid drowsiness and driving concerns.

Thank you for the responses. I went to the doctor today and she gave me Flexeril 5mg. I plan to only take these on the really bad days, but thankful to hopefully have some kind of pain relief. ☺️

I was taking Gabapentin for a while but it wasn't working for me other than I gained 50 lbs so I was switched to Soma and Naproxin which worked for me okay But it has been a long hard road of trial and error which I am still working on try using a journal this might help

Hi Kelly. I take Cyclobenzaprine HCL 10mg at night. I have a tendency to have muscle spasms which can be really painful. My doc prescribed this muscle relaxer about 9 months ago. I don't have any side effects. Each one of us is so different it makes it hard to know exactly what to take. Good luck.

I was on muscle relaxers on a regular basis.... tried several... the help the offered was not worth the price of my eye sight... I had to get 4 new pair of glasses in just 2 years before I found out what was happening. I seriously thought I was going blind. Our eyes are controlled by muscles and the relaxers screwed my vision up..... Have stopped taking any muscle relaxers now and my vision has improved, but not gone back to what it was! Be careful if you take them!
