I feel like all I do is take medication and really none of it is relieving the pain. I take 1800 mg of Gapapentin, Cymbalta, Xanax, zanaflex, and Hydrocodone, vitamin D, magnesium,. I feel none of it is helping with the pain but at least I sleep ok at night. I am thankful I am still able to work full time but many days it is a real struggle. But I come home and don't feel like doing anything else that day rest and try to keep going. I feel helpless because you can't explain how you really feel and how much it hurts. People look at you and think you look fine. Depression is a big issue too. But how do you fight it when you barely feel like moving?? Sorry to be whining!! Thank you for listening!
@A MyFibroTeam Member, Thank you for taking time to respond to me. I am an Executive Assistant for a Medical Director for a very busy pediatric emergency department at a non-profit medical center. I really love my job and the people. Right now, I am on a "special project" in addition to my regular job and it is killing me. This project requires me to get a report out by 7:30 AM Mon - Fri. So I have to get to work at Monday at 4am and the rest of the week by 5:00 so I can make any corrections on the report before I put together the data to distribute to Senior Leadership of the medical center. This change in my life has worn me out. I have to go to bed at 8 every night to get up so early. I don't know if I'm paranoid but the thought has crossed my mind that they are trying to run me off due to my age AND missing some work due to fibro. I'm on the computer and phone almost all day so when I get home I don't want to do anything or talk to anyone so I can rest for the next day. I am blessed with three beautiful grandchildren ages ranging 5 year old to 10 weeks. The older two usually come every weekend to spend with us. Then it went to every other weekend and now it maybe once a month. They don't understand why Nana isn't like she once was and it kills me. I have become good at hiding the pain from everyone and it is wearing me out, physically, emotionally and mentally because I am sick and tired of being sick and tired!! Thank you again for giving me some hope in getting off some of this medication soon.
Suzanne. I was at that point at one time. Just so I could try yo keep working I was taking 22-24 pills a day. I would get home & collapse. My husband would try talking to me & he said it was like my body was sitting there but I was gone. The depreason got worse because I couldn't keep up at work, I was too drugged all the time but I thought at least I'm sleeping. I would get up the next day & do the same thing. I knew the meds weren't helping so why was I taking them I thought??
I was dx in 2008 & left my job in 2011. I was still trying different meds but at least I was
at home & able to rest more. I had to quit because I wasn't working as quickly as I used to,
My hands, neck, elbows, lower back hurt..I sat at a desk
all day calling insurance companies , I had to write a lot etc. Anyhow, I made the decision
& told my dr these aren't working -lets get me off these
& figure out something new. Before I knew it I was down
to 12 pills a day, I felt so much more alert...but here I am in 2015 & I've tried all
all meds out there for fibro-it's depressing but I don't want
to take anything that isn't really doing any good.
I'm sorry you're struggling. I know what you're going through. If you don't
Mind me asking what kind of work do you do?
my primary doc and pain management doc did not want to give me any narcotics but i was taking 4 naproxen daily and that is not good on my stomach so I switched primary providers and told the new doc specifically what was going on and after a drug test, she went ahead and prescribed me hydrocodone and is monitoring how much I am actually taking. I have to admit since starting aqua therapy, my pain has been less until i overdue it.
Well, I wont be taking Lyrica again had a severe allergic reaction to it today and ended up in the ER with my face, throat, neck and eyes swelling closed. Dr said no more and that I should look at other options. I will look into the aqua therapy and see how that works. Thank you guys for your help.
