I get a lot out of workbooks and journaling. Over the many decades on my journey, I have learned about the myriad of possible coping skills. I have incorporated my personal backpack of coping skills.
Completing and reading other people's stories may be something to consider.
You’re welcome Margo. Having Fibromyalgia is a problem…scar tissue develops after knee surgery and causes pain. Also fibromyalgia pain can move around the body to different areas. Hope you can find something to ease your pain. Hugs🥰 @A MyFibroTeam Member
If I had a pound for every person who has had replacement surgery and got worse after I'd be rolling in dosh.
People go into surgery not really prepared for what can happen. If they are drilling into a part of your body imagine how many nerves are touched during the op. I've always been hyper aware of this and refused operations because of this. They don't tell you about the nerve damage that occurs after surgery that is never mentioned. It was bad enough having the ablation. I've not let them touch me since that.
What's helped me the most is acceptance and leaning into the pain. Our minds are so powerful, if we think negative thoughts our bodies will absorb those negative feelings that go with the thoughts. If we think positive thought our body will react to those thoughts. Meditation is key to helping pain management. I remember one particular day at work in a busy nursing home. This place had 3 floors and the bells would go off all.day long. I'd injured my back when a patient who should have been hoisted fell backwards on a spin stand. She took me with her. I still had a 12hr shift to do. So I put on a meditation while I worked which totally calmed my mind enabling me to finish that shift. Positive thought is key to all pain
I’m so sorry to hear how much you have suffered. I wasn’t diagnosed until age 47. I started worrying that maybe the pain was cancer. I’m thankful for a good friend who told me I needed to see a rheumatologist. Big hugs!🤗🦋🥰
Have you tried chair yoga? You can find it on YouTube its very good. I've done yoga from the age of 17 it's a relaxing yet extremely powerful exercise. Keeps you stretching and toned. I also meditate Lauren Ostrowski Fenton you can find her on YouTube or Spotify her body scans are amazing. I don't fight the pain, Alot of people do. Which makes it so much worse. Lean into the pain with acceptance in the moment. Acceptance is key when dealing with chronic pain.
I was a single mother and a nurse. I loved my job so much, it's not that long since I stopped working. I stopped after the stroke but worked on the business side until I gave it up. I find Art photography anything creative helps me. Keeping busy and living in the moment 🙏🏻🌼🦋🌻🌸🌹
